2017 Bilingual Education Fair - Why, How and Where to Raise Bilingual Kids, even if you only speak one language
Organized by DC Language Immersion Project with support from French Morning. Supported by Rochambeau, The French School of Washington DC, Whole Kids Academy and Qatar Foundation International and co-hosted by DC Public Library and DC State Board of Education. Held at Francis Gregory Library, Saturday January 14th, 2017.
300 people attended the 2017 Bilingual Education Fair, visiting with 30 exhibitors including dual language programs, language and culture organizations, bilingual publishers, app developers, theatre companies, daycare operators, tutors, etc.
The adult program featured American University professor Amelia Tseng who presented on the cognitive and economic benefits of being bilingual. Parents and children attended the children program featuring story times in many languages including Hebrew, Arabic, French, Mandarin, Amharic, German and Spanish. Outreach was done in English and Spanish.
